Szimpla Bar (Ruin Bar)
I think these guys arrived at Minoo the same night as me. We went out together, along with the hostel manager and his friend to Szimpla. Good time. He was sort of a German Tom Cruise. She was from Amsterdam, I think. He was hot for her, but he thought she thought he was too young. But I think she just thought he was too geeky. She seemed to like the New Zealanders who came into my room after he left town. TMI?
Bullet holes from WWII.
Machine gun fire remains....
Zyklon B.
Minoo Hostel, where I stayed in Budapest for 4 nights. http://www.minoohouse.com/gallery.html
This is where the smokers hung out.
I arrived on a Monday and got the King's Suite up top. Very cool. $10/night.
Hostel stairway.
There was this cool "outdoor" bar behind the hostel.
This place, Minoo, was really hard to find. There was no sign. I got a recco from some people at a hostel that was in the guide book, but which was closed for the season. Its in the open door in the middle of the picture.
Right in front of the hostel.
I think this was African. But maybe not. They shaped their heads from when young.
Really old chariot wheel.
Nazi ride.
They used antlers to store gunpowder. The split balls with links are cannon balls.
These are swords/rifle combos.Amazingly elaborate.
Pretty terrifying stuff.
I think those are horses bits.
Fancy saddles.
The young prince/kings (12 years old) armour suit. A1 Quality!
This stuff has a amazing workmanship.
Some sort of church elder seating. Fancy, but not so good for chillaxing.
In Buda looking at the Pest side of the city. Spent very little time in Pest.Rare moments in Pest.
They have a nice, clean, efficient train system.
Terror House. This was both Nazi and KGB terror headquarters. Now a museum.
Memorial to the many who died at Soviet hands in the 1958 uprising. Many I think tortured and murdered in this very building.
